The New Music Educational Project My Ancient Harp Basic Knowledge

Holding the plectrum
First we will review the position of the right hand, the emphasis being on keeping the wrist and hand relaxed.

The plectrum should be held between the thumb and the index finger. We will place the plectrum so that the upper part covers the first joint of the index finger and the thumb rests on top holding it. The teacher should move from student to student ascertaining that the pressure between the thumb and the index finger is not too great and allows some flexibility.
