Composing
The principles of composition will be based on two of the important qualities of sound: pitch and duration. The other sound qualities - intensity and timbre - are of less importance in the initial stage, and they may be incorporated in the performance stages, as we approach the final stage of the program and the concert. Bellow, is a short method of how to compose step by step:

Step A - The preparation

We will begin by composing a phrase of four bars. First we will instruct the students to draw three lines across the page, we shell call those three lines a row!. On its left of each line we will write the string's circled number and the meter: 4/4. On its right we will mark a repeat sign (Two close lines and two dots). Now we will divide the row to four, by three vertical lines. Now we will have four bars ready for composing:

Step B - Note's durations organization
We will guide the students to place notes with correct rhythmic-values above the line (using pencils).
It is recommended to use only three note's durations: a whole note, half notes and quarter notes). Each student will fill the values in - according to his wish, choice, talent, etc. As a result we will have a line of rhythmic values that will look something like this:

Step C - Determining sound pitch
Now that we have a pattern of sound duration, we will add pitch to each sound by placing the sounds duration on the desirable string. Thus we will have a sound with duration and pitch… a musical phrase composed by the student. While determining the pitch of the sound (Placing the written durations on a desired string), each student will experiment on his/her own instrument.
Now we will erase the above line of rhythmic values. Such a row... ooops, such a composition may look and sound like this:

Step D - Performing the student's first composition
